Gunmen kill 14 in fresh attacks on two Plateau communities

Fourteen people have been reportedly killed by gunmen in separate attacks on communities in Jos South and Bassa Local Government Areas of Plateau state.
Two people were also said to have sustained injuries in the attacks that occurred  on Sunday night.
The gunmen were said to have killed 12 people in Sabon Layi village, Kuru district, Jos South LGA while two others were killed in Zogu village, Miango community, Bassa LGA.
A member of the Plateau House of Assembly representing Jos South, Fom Gwattson, confirmed the killing of twelve persons in Kuru community on Monday.
He said, “Some gunmen last night attacked my constituency and killed twelve persons in Sabon Layi community. I have just been informed of the development and this is completely unacceptable.”
Also confirming the attack on Zogu village, the National President of the Irigwe Development Association, Ezekiel Bini, said two people were killed while two others were injured by the gunmen.
He added that one of those injured was rushed to the Jos University Teaching Hospital while the second person was taken to a hospital in Miango for treatment.
Bini said the killings were reported to the security agents.
However, when contacted, spokesman of the Plateau state police command, Ubah Ogaba, said 10 people were killed in the attack in Jos South LGA.
He added that he was yet to receive reports on the attack on the community in Bassa LGA
