The Prelate of the of Methodist Church Nigeria (MCN), His Eminence, Samuel Kanu, has been abducted by gunmen.
He was kidnapped on Sunday alongside Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark, the Methodist Bishop of Owerri and the Prelate’s Chaplain, by yet to identified gunmen along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia state.
Sources told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the clergymen were kiddnapped in the afternoon while they were returning from a programme.
The spokesman of the Abia state police command, Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the incident, saying efforts were on top gear to rescue them.
Ogbonna called on members of the public to assist the police with credible information that will lead to their rescue.
