Gombe imposes 24 hour curfew on waring communities

The Gombe state government has a 24 hour curfew in Balanga Local Government Area of the state following renewed communal violence between Lunguda and Waja ethnic groups.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, in a statement on Wednesday said the decision was aimed at curtailing the violence that erupted among communities in Balanga LGA.
He said some of the communities involved in the crisis are Nyuwar, Jessu, Heme, Yolde Gelentuku, Sikam, Wala-Lunguda.
The SSG added that the curfew became imperative to restore peace and order in the affected areas.
He added that security personnel had been deployed to restore normalcy while the curfew will subsist until further notice.
