The Department of State Services (DSS) says the outcome of its investigation on Tukur Mamu, the hostage negotiator is mind-boggling.
It also warned members of the public to desist from making unguarded utterances on the Mamu issue and await court for proceedings.
Mamu who is the publisher of a Kaduna based newspaper, Desert Herald, was arrested Thursday at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, after he was repatriated from Egypt where he was detained while on his way to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj with his family.
Mamu, has been involved in negotiations for the release of abducted victims of the March 28, 2022, attack on the Abuja-Kaduna passenger train.
In a statement on Sunday reacting to comments that trailed Mamu’s arrest, spokesman of the DSS, Peter Afunaya, said the security agency would not be distracted by skewed utterances and urged members of the public to wait for the commencement of court proceedings.
The statement reads: “The Department of State Services (DSS) has followed, with keen observation, overzealous comments by sections of the public in view of issues relating to the arrest and investigation of Tukur Mamu.
“The service wishes that it is not distracted with some of the skewed narratives pervading the media space.
“Instead, it requests to be left alone to concentrate on the ongoing investigations, the outcomes of which have remained mind-boggling.
“Meanwhile, the service will cease further comments on the subject matter since the court will determine its course.
“Consequently, the public is hereby enjoined to desist from making unguarded utterances and await the court proceedings.”
