Former speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has been appointed a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign council (PCC).
Dogara’s appointment was announced in a statement on Sunday by the Director General of the PCC and governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal.
Only a few days ago, the Northern Leader Consultative Forum (NLCF) which Dogara belongs, endorsed the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, describing him as
“the best.”
Dogora, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is among the party’s Northern Christians who kicked against the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the party.
Babachir Lawal, former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) and leader of the group, had earlier announced the endorsement of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) as the group’s choice.
However, Dogara, alongside other members of the NLCF, distanced themselves from Lawal’s endorsement.
It was not known wether Dogara has official resign his membership of the APC.
