Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Solomon Dalung, has commended the Edo state government for providing world class sporting facilities to promote sports.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 20th National Sports Festival at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Dalung called on other states of the federation to emulate Edo state
He said he was impressed with the state of facilities at the venues of the festival, noting that if other states could invest in the sports sector like Edo, it will go a long way providing employment for talented youths.
I want to challenge every other state government to put up a structure like the one we are seeing here at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium”, Dalung said.
The former minister said, with the kind of facilities provided by the Edo state government, Nigeria can host the African Games without any hitch.
I want to thank the Governor (Godwin) Obaseki for keeping to his word. I remember he promised me when I was the sports minister that before the festival, Edo would have a world-class facility and I’m glad he kept to his promise.
I am pleading and urging every state government to follow suit as this is the way to go in the country”, he said
