The Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged the federal government to adequately equip the Nigeria Police to fight insurgents bandits and other criminal elements in the country.
The state Chairman of the association, Most Rev. Bulus Yohanna, made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the Niger state Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Kuyars, in his office on Friday in Minna.
Yohanna noted that insurgents are operating with very sophisticated weapons hence, the need for the police to be properly armed with more superior weapons to flush out the undesirable elements.
The CAN chairman also advocated improved welfare packages for officers and men of the Nigeria Police.
“I call on the government to improve the welfare of all security agencies, equip them well so they can be well motivated to carry out their duties”, he said.
He commended security forces in the country for their untiring efforts in the fight against insecurity and urged Nigerians to support and continue to pray for the police and other security agencies fighting the criminals.
Responding, the Police Commissioner, Kuyars, charged Christians to continue to pray for Niger state and the nation in general.
