Bandits kill two more abducted students of Greenfield University


Two more of the abducted students of Greenfield University, Kaduna, have been killed by their captors.
This brings the number of the students killed to five. Three of the students were earlier killed by the bandits on Friday by their captors.
Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna state commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Kaduna.
Aruwan said: “On a sad note, security agencies have just reported to the Kaduna State Government the recovery of two more dead bodies of Greenfield University students, killed by armed bandits today, Monday 26th April 2021.
“The retrieved corpses have been evacuated to a mortuary, and the university has been notified of the development.
“The Government of Kaduna State under the leadership of Malam Nasir El-Rufai is saddened by this evil perpetrated against innocent students abducted while pursuing their education for a glorious future.
“The Government sends its deep empathy to their families and the university management, and prays for the repose of their souls.
“The Government will update the citizenry on further developments”.
Last Tuesday, bandits invaded the private institution, located off the Kaduna- Abuja road at about 8:30pm, abducting yet to be disclosed number of students.
The bandits were said to have demanded for N800 million ransom .
The management of the university in a statement had in a statement on Saturday by the Registrar, Mr. Bashir Muhammad, said efforts were being been made to secure the release of the abducted staff and students, lamenting that the efforts were not yielding the desired results.
He said, “a ransom of N800 million has been demanded for our abducted staff and students.
“We are at this point calling on the government and people of goodwill who can be of assistance to come to our aid as the situation is becoming overwhelming.”
The registrar appealed “to those in custody of staff and students to spare their lives.”
