Bandits kill six in Plateau community

Six people have been reportedly killed by gunmen in an attack on Wereng village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident which was said to have occurred on Thursday at about 10:45pm also left people severely injured.
The Chairman of Riyom LGA, Mr. Mafeng Gwalson, confirmed the attack, describing it as sad and called on security operatives to ensure that those behind the attack were arrested and brought to justice.
Also reacting to the killings, Senator Istifanus Gyang, representing, Plateau North Senatorial District condemned the “unwarranted attack on peace loving and hard working citizens”.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Musa Ashoms, the Gyang said the killers are not unknown to security agencies.
He lamented that “it is sad therefore that people in Plateau North are repeatedly being hunted, ambushed and killed without any decisive action.”
Gyang called on the government and security agencies to live up to their responsibilities by ensuring “the safety and protection of law abiding citizens from terrorists, bandits and killer herdsmen”.
