The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna, Senator Uba Sani, has been declared the winner of Saturday’s gubernatorial election. Sani scored 730,002 votes to defeat Isa Ashiru, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, who polled 719,196 votes.
Lawal Bilbis, INEC state collation officer, announced the results of the election at the INEC headquarters in Kaduna at about 9:47 pm.
“Senator Uba Sani having scored the highest number of valid votes and met the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Bilbis said.
He said the Labour Party (LP) candidate recorded 58,283 votes while the Nigerian Peoples Party (NPP) candidate got 21,405 votes.
Details of the results showed that the APC won in 10 of the 23 LGAsof the state while the PDP won in 13 LGAs.
The APC won in Giwa, Ikara, Kauru, Sabon Gari, Kubau, Zaria, Kaduna North,
Kaduna South, Igabi and Birnin Gwari
The PDP won in 13 LGAs, namely, Kaura, Sanga, Kajuru, Jaba, Makarfi, Jama’a, Zangon Kataf, Soba, Chikun, Kagarko,
Kachia, Lere and Kudan.
