President Bola Tinubu has approved the composition of Nigeria’s delegation to the United States Nigeria Joint Working Group as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security cooperation between both countries.
The announcement was conveyed yesterday in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu will lead the multi stakeholder delegation which emerged from the recent high level engagements in Washington DC involving senior Nigerian officials.
The working group is expected to advance practical collaboration in security and related sectors.
Also named on the team are Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Defence Mohammed Abubakar, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji Ojo and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Bernard Doro.
Others include Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Mohammed Mohammed and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
Idayat Hassan of the Office of the National Security Adviser and Paul Alabi of the Nigerian Embassy in the United States will serve as the secretariat of the delegation.
President Tinubu charged the team to work in concert with their American counterparts to ensure the smooth operationalisation of existing agreements across multiple sectors, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to deepening Nigeria’s strategic partnership with the United States.
