Two people have been killed while 10 others were abducted by terrorists in an attack on Sabon Gero area of Millennium City, Kaduna metropolis.
The terrorists were said to have invaded the community on Tuesday night, killing the Commander of Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) in the community and a resident.
The terrorists were also said to have abducted 16 residents, including a medical doctor and six members of his family.
However, six of the abducted people were said to have been rescued by people in neighbouring communities who were alerted about the incident.
The criminals were said to have stormed the community at about 10:30pm, riding on motorcycles and were shooting sporadically.
It was gathered that the JTF Commander and his members opened fire at the bandits, unfortunately they shot him to death as he was not aware that they were very close.
According to a resident, “The bandits opened fire and hit the Commander of the JTF on the leg and he fell down and they shot him on the head.
“A resident was also hit with a bullet and he died on the way to the hospital .
“They kidnapped 16 people but six were six were rescued.
“The medical doctor who was abducted with six members of his family seemed to be the target of the terrorists.
“The situation could have been worst if neighbouring communities who were alerted about the attack had not mobilised to chase the terrorists.
“The neighbouring communities were able to rescue six of the abducted people”,
Mohammad Jalige, spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, did not respond to telephone calls when contacted for reaction on the incident.
