Several houses were also said to have been burnt.
It was gathered that incident took place on Tuesday at about 10pm when the bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons invaded the community and unleashed mayhem on the people.
The attackers were said to have destroyed the bridge connecting to the community to ensure that it is inaccessible to anybody coming to help.
An entire family was said to have been wiped out during the attack.
Sources in the community said
The spokesman of the Plateau Police Command, Ubah Ogaba confirmed the incident, stating that he was yet to get the details.
However, the Councillor representing the community, Yusuf Ali, confirmed the attack.
He said the gunmen vandalised the iron bridge linking the community before launching the attack.
According to him, the destruction of the bridge made it difficult for security agents to access the area when they were alerted on the attack.
“The gunmen were just shooting in every direction when they arrived the community around 10 pm.
For now, dead bodies have been recovered and we are still searching for more victims because the shooting was too much.
“When the attack was going on, the Chairman of the Local Government called the security agents to mobilize to the area but it was discovered that the gunmen destroyed the iron bridge linking the community”, Ali said.
