200 level student of SSCOE Sokoto, killed for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Mohammed

Deborah Yakubu, a 200 level student in the Department of Home Economics, Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE) Sokoto, has been killed for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Mohammed.
The incident occurred on Thursday in the school.
It was gathered that, Yakubu, an Indigene of Zuru, Kebbi state, was accused by a Muslim student for allegedly abusing Prophet Mohammed.
The muslim student was alleged to have alerted some fellow muslim students who stoned her and set her ablaze.
The incident was said to have led to tension in the school.
It was gathered that the military was deployed to the school to curtail outbreak of law and order.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Mohammad has condemned the incident, urging security agencies to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
The sultan, in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Council, Sa’idu Muhammadu, expressed dismay over the unfortunate incident.
The statement said, “The Sultanate Council has learnt with dismay the unfortunate happenings at the Shehu Shagari College of Education, (SSCOE) Sokoto that led to the loss of life of a female student of the institution.
“The Sultanate Council condemned the incident in it’s totality and has urged the security agencies to bring perpetrators of the unjustifiable incident
to justice.
“The Sultanate Council has urged all to remain calm and ensure peaceful coexistence among all people of the State and nation”.
The Sokoto state governor, Waziri Tambuwal was said to be out of town when the incident occurred.
